There is something special about the fall season. Perhaps it’s the red and yellow leaves that are falling from trees, or maybe it’s how we all feel a sense of urgency to finish our summer bucket lists before winter comes. Whatever it is, the fall brings with it an anticipation of magic and mystery. It’s also a great time to bring out your home’s best decorations. Armed with creative, cost-effective ideas, you can make your home look festive with some basic supplies and minimal effort – including these fall banner letters! They are simple to make and will give your home a big impact for little money.

What you’ll need:

Card stock

– Scissors or paper trimmer for a more accurate cut

White String or Brown String

– Glue or tape

There are several options for printing out your free printable. You can print out the banner letters directly from your computer or print them at a local printer shop. For best results, I recommend printing onto cardstock paper. This will give you a nice sturdy banner letter that will stay together well when you are gluing it together. One of the advantages of making your own banner letters is that you can print them out as many times as you want. You can also use them for many different occasions.

Step 2: Cut out the banner letter or numbers that you need.

Save your finger joint by using a paper trimmer to cut the straight lines and then a pair of scissors for the curve.

Depending on how you want to secure the banner in place, there are two ways of cutting this banner out. If you want to use a hole puncher to make holes in your banner, cut your banner around the orange outline. If you want to use the top of the banner (the grey outline) to fold over a string then cut out the whole banner on the page.

Step 3: Secure your fall banner letters in place.

No hole puncher? simply fold the top of the banner over a string. Glue or tape the back to secure it in place.

There are several methods for hanging your banner.

Method 1: Fold the top of the banner over a string. You can use any kind of string that you have on hand such as twine, yarn, or even shoelaces. The only requirement for your string is that it is thick enough to keep the top of your banner in place. After you have folded over the top and attached the string, you are ready to glue or tape the back of the banner to make it stay in place. Clothespins are also a good option to hold the banner on the string.

Method 2: Use a hole puncher to make holes in your banner then thread your string or ribbon through them to secure it in place.

Method 3: Using tape or washi tape (you can find them in a variety of sizes and designs including fall-themed) to tape them onto the wall.

Step 4: Add your own flare to these banner letters.

Decorate your banner with colorful clothespins and tassels.

Once you have your banner letters on a string or wall, you can make it more festive by adding some more decorations to it. Here are some ideas for you to use:

  1. You can use washi tape to create a border for each banner letter. Washi tape is easy to cut and peel off when you are ready to take down your homemade banner decoration and it is easy to find at most craft stores. You can choose a pattern that matches your fall decor or goes with a color scheme you are using in your home.
  2. Go on a nature walk and gather some fall leaves or acorns. Glue or string them onto your banner.
  3. Gather some fall color yarn or string and turn them into tassels. Tie to the banner.

These fall banner letters are a great way to make your home look festive without breaking the bank. Best of all, you can use them for different occasions like birthdays, baby showers, Thanksgiving, etc.! They are simple to make and will give your home a big impact for little money. Here’s to a festive fall season!
