Can you believe it’s May already?! Next thing you know it will be the last day of school. I’ve created lots of last day of school signs for you so you are well prepared for those last day of school pictures.
If your kids are into cute little pandas then you’ll probably want to print out one of these free panda last day of school signs.
There are two color designs for you to choose from.
The free panda last day of school signs are from Pre-k to 12 grade.
You can print them out and have the kids hold them or put it into an 8×10 frame and place next to your kids.
Download the Panda last day of school signs from the Printable Resource Library.
Yes, you do have to sign up in order to download these signs, but it is FREE.
Not to mention, you get lots of other pretty cool and free printables.
I’ve got pandas on the brain recently so I got onto my favorite online design program, Canva, to create some panda party invitation and decorations for you.
You can also create your own panda party invitation very easily using Canva.
If you don’t have time to create your own, this free panda party invitation is perfect for your little panda’s birthday party. There are several templates to choose from.
The first file is with “It’s my birthday” inside the banner and “Time to Celebrate” on the template. You just add your party information underneath.
Edit this using the free Acrobat Reader or the online program, PDFescape.
In order to personalize your invitation in Picmonkey or Canva, you will need to download the PNG file.
The second template leaves all the text out so you can put your own wordings. This one could be use for baby shower, birthday, and other social events. You can also just personalize this with your kid’s name in the banner and a cute little quote on the bottom. Print and frame it.
Have you ever bought a printable from my shop that has tons of white space? Like this giraffe or bunny wall art printable and wish you can personalize it with a name or a quote?
Today, I will show you how to turn my 8x10 giraffe printable into a party welcome sign using a free online design program called, Canva.
WHAT IS CANVA?
Canva is an online design program that lets you create tons of beautiful posters, invitations, pinterest graphics, etc. for free.
There is also a paid version of Canva, called Canva for Work. There is one feature of Canva for Work that I LOVE!!! That one feature is Canva’s ability to resize my 8x10 designs any other size I want, like a poster, an invitation, a bookmark, etc. I will show you how easy it is in my next tutorial.
Also, with Canva for Work you get more free graphic options.
However, the free version is just awesome for doing all your home and party printables.
Please note: You can only use and personalize my printables for your own personal use. Please do not modify it, claim it as your own and then sell it. That would not be so nice of you.
Materials for this project:
My party giraffe printable if you want to follow along. When you get the giraffe PNG file, just right click on the image and choose save image as to save onto your computer.
Watch the video below for quick tutorial on how to turn this giraffe printable into a party welcome sign. There is no sound, but it’s fairly easy to follow along.
1. Go to Canva website. Simply fill in the requested information and sign up.
2. Click on custom dimension and enter 8x10 in. That is the size of my nursery wall art. Click on Create new design.
3. It will open up your blank canvas. Go to Upload and Click on Upload an image.
4. Find the giraffe image that was saved on your computer and upload it to Canva. It will show up under the upload an image like in the screenshot below.
5. Now click and drag the giraffe image onto your blank canvas. Once you see the outline of the canvas turn blue unclick your mouse. The image will now fit exactly into the 8x10 canvas. Otherwise, it will just place your giraffe image down a lot smaller and your have to adjust the image yourself.
ADDING ELEMENTS TO YOUR WELCOME SIGN
Lets say you love the giraffe with the party hat, but you want to change the pom pom on top of it.. Here is what you do.
Click on Elements.
You will see tons of elements that are free and some that are paid. If you want, you can filter it for just free elements by typing free and whatever you are looking for in search. If you have the paid version, Canva for Work, you can just click on free crown icon. Canva for Work offers you more freebies that you otherwise would have to pay if you have the free version.
Using the search box type in firework. Click or drag it onto the canvas.
If you don’t like the firework colors, you can change it to fit your party theme by clicking on the current color and changing it to the one you want.
If you want the firework topper as full as mine, copy it 3 times and then layered them on top of each other, rotating them to how you like them and then group them together. The group function is right next to COPY. Doing this will allow you to move all three layers as one!
You can now download or print this out just like this OR you can:
You can add text two different ways. One by clicking on Add a heading, Add a subheading, or Add a little bit of body text. The other way is by using the Canva’s font combination. Canva groups two different fonts together that they feel would make your design pop. I love the Happy Birthday combination, which has the Selima and the League Spartan font. if you don’t like it after putting onto your designs you can always change the font.
By the way, the font combination are grouped together. Whatever you type using this font pairing will move together. If you want to move Happy further up and Birthday separately, you need to UNGROUP. This will let you move the two fonts separately.
I added the number 3 to the party hat for a little more personality. Since, I’m only doing a number, I picked Add a heading. Then type the number 3. I can change its size, color, text using the options on the top left corner. Play with all the options available to you.
Lets say you find the above still a little bit too simple and what to add more colors and patterns in the background, like the sign below.
Search for confetti in Elements. Change the color of the confetti if you want it to match your party theme.
Now make copies of the confetti and drag it where you want it to go. You might have to play around with placement of the polkdots so it doesn’t cover the party hat or the words. For the words you can always change the position (upper right corner) to be in front of the polkadots.
Do the same for the balloons. Find it in Elements. Copy it to make it across the top of your welcome sign.
Wasn’t that super fun to do?
You made your first cool party printable!
If you love this giraffe polkadot welcome sign the way it is, you can download it here and just modify the name. I will omit the name and the number on the hat for you to personalize yourself.
But then you feel bummed because you don’t have the money to spend on it right now?
Yup. I know how you feel. That’s why I started putting the items I love into my “favorite” list. Then something magical happened.
I received emails from Etsy telling me my items that I favorited are now having a sale or is offering discounts.
I’ve never received these emails before?
When did this happened?
So I went into research mode and found all the goodies I can find into how the shops on Etsy do sales campaigns or promotions.
Of course, as a seller on Etsy I also started implementing some of these special promotions in my shop as well. I’ve had fun finding items at a discount. And offering my buyers huge discounts as well!
Here are the 9 money saving hacks for shopping on Etsy!
Etsy hack #1. Put the item in your favorite list
If you love an item, click on the heart, which on your desktop is on the top right hand corner of the listing.
Depending on the seller, you might receive an email with a promotion. I’ve seen 10% off to free shipping.
Etsy hack #2. Buy your item off-season.
I favorited some Christmas wreaths in November for this article that I was writing. Load and behold February came along and I started getting emails from Etsy saying this item and that item is on sale.
So if you know what you want to buy for next Christmas, Halloween, etc, favorite that item by clicking on the heart.
You might see a discount for it in the near future. It’s now March and I’m getting sales notice for Christmas stockings.
Remember not all shops do this. Sales and promotions are done by individual shop, not Etsy. If you are buying something that is one of a kind, you might not want to wait for a possible promotion.
Etsy hack #3. Add that item in your cart.
If you’re hesitant to buy it because it might be on sale later, add it to your cart. Wait for a day or two.
You might get an email telling you you’ll get this at discount if you finish purchasing it.
Etsy hack #4. Sign up for the shop’s newsletter.
You can find the link to sign up in several possible places :
The announcement section
The About section
The Updates section
In the listing image
In the listing itself
In the shop’s cover image.
Not sure where these are? Check my image below.
Once you sign up for the newsletter, you’ll be happily surprised by the extra benefits of subscribing to the newsletter. Some of these includes:
Early discounts for subscribers.
Discounts for subscribers only.
For example, if you sign up for my newsletter, I send you shop updates, free printables on my blog, newsletter members’ exclusive printables, and access to my printable library.
New subscribers get 35% discount.
That’s a lot of cool stuff.
Here is what my newsletter opt-in look like. Sign up and see all the FREE wonderful things!
So the next time you are on an Etsy shop, look for the newsletter link or a link to their website.
From there you should see a link to sign up for their newsletter.
Some sellers also sell more items at a lesser price on their own website.
So take the time to find that website or the subscriber link and SIGN UP for the newsletter.
Etsy hack #5. Look for discount codes, freebies, or bundle deals
You can find these information in the same places as Etsy hack #4.
Etsy hack #6. Find discount by using Etsy search function.
Yup. You can just type in “discount”, “sale”, “% off” and whatever product you are looking for.
Here is a screenshot of what I got when I search for mermaid party decor sale.
By the way if you write “sale mermaid party decor”, Etsy will somehow autocorrect it to SCALE.
You won’t get as much sale listings that way!
Etsy hack #7. It SAVES to read the product listing.
I’m guilty at not reading the whole listing before hitting the “BUY” button then realized it’s not I was looking for.
If you don’t read the whole listing you might miss out on the fact that you could have bought something for a lot less or even free!
Some owners will tell you that the items are free if you use a link that redirects to their website.
If you read the whole listing descriptions you might end up getting what you want and saving lots of money.
Etsy hack #8. Buy in bulk.
I don’t mean buying a lot of items from different stores. Individual store will offer a set/bundle deal.
Here are some ways to find them:
You can browse through the listings for one that says “SET” or “BUNDLE” like the listing below for the Mermaid mason jars.
As you can tell from the image, buying a set of 10 mermaid mason jars is cheaper than buy 10 indvidual ones.
Look through all the image listing pictures. You should go through every listing pictures because it will give you information about your potential purchase, but also how to get free or discounted items.
You can find the information in the listing itself. It might say something on the line of “buy 2 get 1 free with code freebie”, “Looking to buy more than one? Click on this link!”. Remember to read the listing carefully. It really does pay off!
Here is an example from my shop.
It’s not advertised as a bundle, but you can see that there is a deal for 3 donut printables for $9.00 compared to 3 for $18.75. Bear in mind, that you can use the 35% off code if you sign up for my newsletter for this $9 listing as well.
If you don’t want to sign up, you might get another discount by just putting in your favorite list listing or leaving it in the cart.
By the way, Etsy doesn’t let you use more than one code.
So do all the hacks and see which one gives you the best bang for your buck!
Lastly, you can find discount information right at the top of the main shop page in the cover picture.
9. Click “ON SALE” on Etsy search result page.
Right before I hit published on this post, I found this one last hack.
Just type in what you want, hit “SEARCH”, You’ll get a tons of results. Now filter them for sales items by clicking “ON SALE”. Your results will now only contain items with sales. Easy peasy.
There you have it. Nine hacks for saving money on Etsy.
Remember to do all the money saving hacks above on your next shopping trip.
Over to you:
Have you tried any of these?
Do you have other tricks, besides emailing the seller and begging pretty please for a discount?
